Course Introduction
A lifting operation is an operation concerned with the lifting and lowering of a load. A load is the item or items being lifted which could include a person or people. Lifting equipment includes any equipment or machinery used at work for lifting or lowering loads or people, including accessories and attachments used for anchoring, fixing or supporting the equipment.
Course Objectives
The course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively operate the lifting equipment in a safe manner.
Topics to be covered
Participants will be familiarized to:
· OHS laws
· Lifting appliances risks and controls
· Overhead crane & sling safety
· Safe forklift operations
· Standard signals used by operators
· Safety in rigging and scaffoldings
· Lifting appliances inspections.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand type and operation of lifting appliances
- Recognize safe, efficient operation of commercial and industrial boilers
- Lifting appliances safety and inspection
- Perform preventative maintenance to counteract appliances deterioration
- Understand and apply the basic principles and fundamentals of OSH,
- Identify the most relevant hazards related to lifting appliances and the most frequent preventive and protective measures adopted,
Course Duration
The course will be conducted for four (4) days consecutively including class session and practical session to one selected site.
Course Fee
The course fee is Tshs 300,000/= per participant which will cover tuition fee, training materials /booklet, food and refreshment during the course.
Course Certification
An OSHA certificate will be issued after successful completion of the course.
