TWO WEEKS HAS GIVEN TO AN INDUSTRY TO IMPROVE OCCUPATIONAL ENVIRONMENT.

Minister of State, Prime Minister's Office (Labour, Youth, Employment & Persons with Disability) Prof. Joyce Ndalichako visited different industries in Kigamboni Dar es salaam including Tanzania Ruidar Co. Ltd where she has given two weeks to that industry to improve occupational environment after seen to endanger health and safety of workers.

Minister Ndalichako made a plea following the agreements with investors of the industry, District Commissioner of Kigamboni, Fatma Almasi Nyangasa, OSHA Chief Executive, Khadija Mwenda and as well as other heads of departments and institutions under Prime Minister’s office

“The owner of this industry has to stop production especially in all areas which produces dirty water and all areas that we have seen bad arrangements of raw materials and other tools so that they can arrange and have good working environments. We have agreed with him to do so and he has to make sure that all workers participates in the whole period of doing improvements and they get paid” Said Minister, Ndalichako and added

“We appreciate all investors because they help us to create employments to Tanzanians but we want them to respect laws of our country including to put all productions areas safe so as to prevent workers from occupational injuries and diseases that can be caused by unfriendly working environment”

On the side of Kigamboni District Commissioner, Fatma Almasi Nyangasa has insisted that owner of the industry has to use all workers of that industry and they will be supervised by her office and those from institutions under the Prime Minister’s Office- Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability.

OSHA Chief Executive, Khadija Mwenda has wanted industrialists to care about their workers because they are playing a vital role in production activities therefore, they have to be provided with safety gears as well as other requirements.

In our inspection we have realized that protectives gears are provided to the only few workers while others are not, also workers are not provided with clean and safe drinking water as instructed by Occupational Safety and Health Act No.5 of 2003, this is very important especially to those who are working in hot environments, to provide water to workers despite of being instructed by the Act but this is a matter of humanity” Said Khadija Mwenda
