RC orders employers to implement OHS Act.

Pwani Regional Commissioner, Evarist Ndikilo, has ordered industry owners to effectively implement the Occupational Health and Safety Act which is meant to protect workers against hazards leading to occupational diseases and accidents.

He gave the directives when he visited OSHA’s pavilion during Pwani regional industries exhibitions held at the RC’s office grounds in Kibaha recently.

Moreover, RC Ndikilo said following prevalence of numerous industries in Pwani Region whereas its activities are associated with different hazards, insisting on the significance to prevent workers against occupational accidents and diseases is inevitable.

For his part, OSHA Public Relations Officer, Mr. Eleuter Mbilinyi, said OSHA participated in the exhibitions with the aim of offering technical advices to industrial owners on how protect their workers against various occupational hazards.

Alex Mosha, who is working with the Tanzania National Electrical Company (TANESCO), advised OSHA to visit various workplaces in order to raise awareness on Safety and Health matters among workers. 

Pwani Region Industries exhibitions were officially opened on October 17th by the Deputy Minister for Industries and Trade, Stella Manyanya who represented the Vice President, Samiah Suluhu and were closed on October 19 by the Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa.
